Rich Michaels is
now Rich Minaya I'm here. There's palm trees. It's warm. And I've got one of the greatest jobs in America. I'll post the WIOD press release below. Everything will be going over to my legal name. It's odd, but it was my idea as a way of starting over for many reasons. Listen on your computer ... on your phone ... on your IPAD ... Whereever you are, I can still be with you. So many friends and so much I would like to say. Mainly, thank you to my dear friends and family of listeners. Let the new adventure begin! .
In broadcasting, Rich began his sometimes controversial experiment with
the airwaves with an illegal “Pirate Radio Station” when he was 12 years
old. By 15, he was a Top-40
DJ … by 18 he worked at the flagship station for Susquehanna
Broadcasting and by his mid-20’s was the highest rated Top 40 Morning DJ
in America at WVIC in Lansing, Michigan.
In the 1990’s, Rich crossed over into Talk Radio at WGR in
Buffalo and then WTAM/WWWE in Cleveland which is heard in 38 states.
Rich returned with his family to his adopted hometown of Lansing
in 1997 to take the helm of mornings at Oldies 97.5 where he delivered
consistent #1 ratings. In 2005, his employer asked him to migrate to
Classic Rock WMMQ where he has been until coming to WIOD.
Rich is active in his community and currently serves as a Board Member
of The Salvation Army and is involved with numerous other charities
including the Diabetes Foundation, St. Vincents Home for Children,
American Red Cross, Sparrow Hospital and Ingham Regional Medical Center.
